Explore || Who We Are & Why
This one-day course will introduce participants to the process and possibilities of community-based justice, a movement at work in various forms and levels across the city of Detroit. Instead of guilt and punishment, restorative justice addresses who was harmed and what remedies might bring personal and community wholeness. We will undertake Bible study, learn some simple practices, and hear from practitioners on the ground.

For many years, one of the regular diocesan celebrations is the annual Acolyte Festival held at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul, in Detroit. On the last weekend of September, nearest the feast of St. Michael and All Angels, a Choral Evensong recognizes the ministry of those who serve at the altar. The service begins with a procession around the Cathedral that includes the processional crosses of all participating churches. In recent years the special ministry of Verger has been included. This year, on Sunday, September 25, 2011, all acolytes, servers, and vergers are invited to participate by vesting, joining the procession, and celebrating their special ministry of service . Check in and Tours of the Cathedral are from 1:30 to 3:00 P.M., welcome and introductions 3:00 P.M. and Choral Evensong 4:00 P.M. The preacher, will be the Rev’d Deon K. Johnson of St. Paul’s, Brighton
