“You run like a girl!”
Whether we’re paying attention to it or not, we all have a script – a preconceived idea – for the role and capabilities of women in family life, in business, in school, in church and in the world. When we stop to examine these scripts we see that some of the roles are life-giving and affirming. Others limit, damage and do violence against women. Perhaps we can begin to realize that something else might be true. That’s when we can choose to “flip” the script to demonstrate that preconceived ideas are just that – ideas. They are not the truth.
When this happens, the phrase “run like a girl” takes on a whole new meaning.
This retreat for women only is designed to use the lens of scripture to help us engage these limiting scripts and give us tools to help us identify, confront, and flip them. We will worship, discuss, and pray together as we listen for the truth in our own hearts about who God is calling us to be.
