The Diocese of Michigan seeks a Ministry Developer to work as part of the bishop’s staff. The Ministry Developer will provide oversight, supervision, guidance, and support of each Total Ministry (TM) congregation and Ministry Support Team regarding: the TM ordination/commissioning process and expectations; continuing education requirements and on-going trainings; congregational development and interpersonal team issues; and diocesan standards and requirements for congregational ministry
The Ministry Developer will also work with the Canon for Congregational Life to support all congregations in the Diocese to help strengthen baptismal ministry and/or assist in developing collaborative ministry models, such as Total Ministry, where appropriate. Pursuant to this, develop programming to assist congregations in their discernment of collaborate ministry.
A qualified candidate will possess a Masters in Divinity from an Episcopal seminary; or related graduate degree supplemented by two years’ experience in professional lay or ordained ministry, ministry development, or a closely allied field.
Bowen Family Systems, Asset Based Community Development Mapping experience are preferred, along with a commitment to Total Ministry and other collaborative ministry models as viable congregational models. Excellent organizational skills required with the flexibility to work within a multicultural and diverse population; basic word processing and computer skills; ability to work with limited supervision. Facilitation, teaching, and presentation skills and experience. Personal transportation is required due to traveling to various congregations on a frequent basis.
