Each year the Diocesan Council's Mission and Budget Committee prepares a budget for the next two fiscal years with the help and input and guidance of the Bishop, Diocesan Staff, Diocesan Council and the people of the whole Diocesan Household. This preparation is done through regular Committee and Council meetings and conversations held on four days during the Spring at sites spread throughout the geographical Diocese. Mission and Budget Conversations (previously called hearings) are advertised through The Record and direct mailings to each congregation. All members of the Diocesan Household should try to be a part of one or more of these events so that as diverse a representation of the Household as can be gathered will have a part in preparing a budget that truly represents the Mission and Ministry of this Diocese. We hope you will join in the conversation this Spring!

Our Diocesan Canons (2.4.2.1 and 2.4.2.2) provide for a budget development process that requires a minimum of four (4) open hearings.  The hearings are to be held in the different geographical areas of the diocese and are to specifically cover the development of the formula for congregational asking and diocesan mission spending.  This process is to begin no later than 150 days before the date of Annual Convention. These hearings or “conversations” are preparatory to creation of the actual proposed and draft budgets of the diocese.   The proposed budget for the next fiscal year and a draft budget for the next following fiscal year are mandated to be prepared no later than 120 days before Annual Convention.

The main calendar of diocesan events can be found here.
