RSVP UPDATE

The RSVP Guiding Coalition met at St. Paul’s Church in Brighton June 8, 2011. The meeting began as usual, with greetings and an opening prayer, but developed into one of the most energetic meetings held by the group this year. During this meeting, the Guiding Coalition worked on making certain that the projects being developed would not only meet the goals and objectives of the Diocese, but would include long-term changes and not simply short-term fixes. The Guiding Coalition wants the work that they do to have a lasting positive impact on the Diocese of Michigan. The work being done is very important to each and every member of the Guiding Coalition. Their commitment, enthusiasm, and creativity were shown.

Vibrant Christian formation was the goal that was discussed. The Guiding Coalition came up with many new ideas to achieve this goal. They also gave more thought to the plans and ideas on which they had previously worked. Members of the Guiding Coalition are considering dividing into teams that meet and work on RSVP goals over the summer. The next two RSVP meetings will be at 7 p.m. July 13 and September 8,
2011, at St. Paul’s Church in Brighton.

Completed Milestones

January 15, 2011 : Approximately 40 diocesan leaders gathered at St. Paul's, Brighton for a 4 hour Strategic Planning Session to begin the work of creating a multi-layered strategic plan aligning the 5 Vision area goals with measurable deliverables. This document will be used as the stewardship plan for the diocese over the next 5 years as a guide and transparent tool for accountability and shared ministry throughout the household.
December 18, 2010: Diocesan Council approves list of names for RSVP's Guiding Coalition
December 8 & 9, 2010: Bishop Gibbs hosted Town Hall evening meetings in Jackson and Detroit to share first hand how the Vision document aligns with and augments his vision for ministry.
October 23, 2010: RSVP program update to household at Diocesan Convention
September 11, 2010: Diocesan Council approved final version of EDOMI Vision document.
July 15, 2010: Online Survey completed and closed. Results to be analysed and presented at the September 11, 2010 Diocesan Council meeting.
April 24, 2010: RSVP Vision Event workshop at St. Paul's, Jackson
March 27, 2010: RSVP Vision Event workshop at All Saints, E. Lansing
