Speak Up Show Love is an event designed to give middle and high school students an opportunity to discover and practice ways of showing love and support to those populations that are being discriminated against, as well as ways to be positive messengers of love in a world that is increasingly showing hate.
We are calling our workshop times: Praxis. Praxis is the process by which a theory, lesson, or skill is enacted, embodied, or realized. The Praxis we are offering are: “How to be an Ally”, “Taking care of yourself”, and “What does it mean to ‘Check your Privilege’?”.
It is hosted at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Royal Oak, MI on Oct 14th from 10am – 3pm. This free event will feature cool music, inspiring speakers, games and Praxis, lunch, and free t-shirts to the first 100 participants.
We also welcome parents and other adults to come and experience the day along side their students. No pre-registration needed, just come to St. John’s (26998 Woodward Ave., Royal Oak, MI) by 10am on Saturday, Oct 14th, and join us for a day of Light, Love and Encouragement.
