EGVM will be holding press + events to highlight various aspects of gun violence on January 18. We have an incoming State Legislature well positioned to take up gun safety measures for Michigan! That is the good news, but that alone will not get us there. We will have challenges ahead so let’s get to work! A new beginning for a New Year!
SAVE THE DATE! SHARE WITH OTHERS! CHOOSE A LOCATION TO PARTICIPATE!
Our goal is to urge action on the following Gun Safety Laws as a top priority:
- Universal Background Checks
- Safe Storage
- Extreme Risk Protection Orders
- Domestic Violence prevention
The majority of these events will occur between 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Confirmation of location and times will be shared soon.
-Oakland County-focused on students (Oxford Forward)
-Lansing-Bishops/Interfaith Faith leaders at capitol steps-press event and prayer vigil (Episcopal Diocese of Michigan)
-Kalamazoo-Focused on Healthcare and Children
-Marquette-(Episcopal Diocese of Northern Michigan)
-Detroit-Urban community violence (Church of the Messiah)
-Saginaw-Interfaith will be holding an event
-Grand Rapids is teacher focused MEA (MI United)
-SW lower Michigan will be organizing press statements
