Episcopal Diocese of Michigan
Spring Clergy Conference
April 3-5, 2017
St. Francis Retreat Center, DeWitt, MI
Invitation from the Bishop
Our annual clergy conference this year will be from Monday, April 3, at 4:00pm until Wednesday April 5 at 12:00pm at the St. Francis Retreat Center in DeWitt, MI. This is a rare opportunity for us to gather, rest, pray and reflect on all that God is calling us to be and do.
As you know, thanks to our new partnership with Visions, Inc., we have embarked upon building up the resources we need to have conversations on equity, diversity, and inclusion. First and foremost, this is spiritual work. To this end, I have invited the Rev. Charles “Chuck” Wynder, Jr. to lead us through a series of reflections and conversations that draw from the writings of Howard Thurman (1899-1981), a theologian, philosopher, educator, and civil rights activist.
The Rev. Chuck Wynder serves on the Presiding Bishop’s staff as Program Staff Officer for Social Justice & Advocacy Engagement. In addition, he serves as Priest-in-Charge of Holy Comforter Church in Washington, DC. He is a graduate of Syracuse University and the University of Michigan Law School, and he earned his M.Div. from Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge, MA.
I very much look forward to our time together this April, and I hope to see you all there. In the meantime, continued blessings to you as we move toward Lent.
