Camp Compassion

Camp Compassion is the Annual Diocesan Youth and Young Adult Mission Trip. It is open to Youth and Young Adults, starting with incoming High School freshmen. During this week-long mission, participants get to experience being the hands and feet of Jesus in the world.

Past experiences included Post Hurricane Katrina Relief work in Mississippi, Community work in Chicago, a return to Bay St. Louis, MS for more Katrina relief, various sites in Pontiac (a community garden, a food bank, a retirement center, fixing and cleaning up the church and a neighborhood carnival) and home restoration in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia, a trip to the Dominican Republic to build/refurbish a church and a week on the Leech Lake Reservation in Minnesota working with Native Americans.

This summer we will once again be heading to the Dominican Republic and doing constructions work around Puerto Plata. Puerto Plata is on the northern coast of the Dominican Republic and we’ve been helping communities around Puerto Plata for the past 6 years.

Due to the limited number of people we can take, we are offering two separate weeks for Camp Compassion this year. Week one is June 24-30, 2019 and Week Two is July 1-7, 2019. The cost is $1800/person, which includes airfare, lodging, food and project expenses. There are limited spaces available for this trip.
