Community Partnership and Development Officer Joins Diocesan Staff
November 5, 2026
Dear Friends,
I am excited to share with you the next phase of our Diocesan Reparations Initiative: Repairing the Breach. I’ve hired Ms. Hunter Torres, to be our Community Partnership and Development Officer. Hunter attends Christ Church Cranbrook and recently co-chaired the Commission on Ministry. Hunter brings a wealth of skill and experience to this position. She will focus on: building ties with community organizations, gathering pertinent data, and managing the details of our initiative. She will work alongside Sr. Vee, our Canon for Spirituality and Racial Repair; Sr. Vee will continue to convene the Reparations Committee and focus on the spiritual and theological foundations of our reparations work.
Over the past year, I have begun creating a vision and timeline for this work. Building on our ministry to reduce gun-violence within our communities, I would like us to explore a program focused on lead abatement. And you may ask, Why lead? Lead exposure, particularly in children, causes cognitive damage and changes in brain development leading to learning difficulties, increased risk of unregulated emotions, and sometimes an increased propensity to react violently to adverse situations.
I’m excited to see this work grow and develop and eventually lead to substantive change in our communities. Join me in welcoming Hunter in this exciting next phase of Repairing the Breach.
In Christ,
The Rt. Rev. Dr. Bonnie A. Perry
11th Bishop of The Episcopal Diocese of Michigan
