Our work in congregational growth and development helps congregations with strengthening loving community, mission focus, discipleship and leadership development, and supports effective discernment and calling processes for congregations and clergy in transitions.
In addition to congregational development and revitalization with existing congregations, our Diocese is working on multicultural development and new church development. We continue to be challenged to find ways to help sustain, grow and develop churches that are serving multicultural people with the model we developed for New Mission Field Communities.
We are continuing to work to develop additional funding sources for multicultural development and new church development. The new worshipping community, The Church at Crossroads in Detroit has received grants (including $25,000 from The Episcopal Church) and is receiving contributions from individuals and church partners. We have also called a native Lebanese Mission Developer to help reach the significant Arab-American Christian community in the Detroit metropolitan area (especially Dearborn).
